Are Kentucky Freshmen One And Done

How will the lost in the national championship game affect Kentucky's freshmen?

After a 60-54 loss in Monday night championship game to the Connecticut Huskies, Kentucky are once again faced with the question are their young starts one and done?

Wildcats freshmen Julius Randle, Aaron and Andrew Harrison, and others will soon have to make their next career decision before April 27, to stay for another year at Kentucky or move on to the 2014 NBA Daft.

According to yahoo sports, John Calipari said, "Since the season is over, it's no longer about the program now, it's about each individual player on this team."

If Kentucky's young stars decide to move on the NBA daft, this is not the first time the Wildcats has seen their top young stars move on after one season.

Since Calipari took over Kentucky's program five years ago, his basketball program has produce 17 first round daft picks and 10 of them have been freshmen.

Starting with the class of 2010 headlined by four five-star recruits in John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Daniel Orton, and Eric Bledsoe that joined forward Patrick Patterson.

That same year after losing in the NCAA tournament after being ranked number one, all five players declared themselves eligible for the NBA draft that year with John Wall taken as the number one pick.

Arguably Calipri best class came two years later in 2012 when he signed Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Marquis Teague to join Terrance Jones, Darius Miller and Doron Lamb helping the Wildcats win the national championship that year.

Instead of trying to repeat, all key members of the Wildcats championship run entered the NBA daft the same year with Anthony Davis taken number one by the Hornets, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist taken number two by the Bobcats.

The class of 2010 and 2012 Kentucky Wildcats members left a successful legacy that proved why they were NBA ready. But not all of Calipri's players proved themselves ready for the NBA.

The Class of 2013 bought in freshman Nerlens Noel, who was a top high school player in 2012.

Noel only appeared in just 24 games for the Wildcats before tearing his ACL in a game against the Florida Gators.

Despite having season ending surgery, Noel went on to the draft getting selected with the six overall pick by the Pelicans, before getting traded to the 76ers.

Over the next three weeks Kentucky will see which one of their players will stay and who will move on the NBA before April 27th.

Regardless of how many Wildcats would stay or leave, Kentucky basketball will still be an elite team next season when they welcome a new recruiting class that includes All-American big men Trey Lyles and Karl Towns.
